Once submitted through your MyGov account, the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) typically assesses compassionate release applications within 14 to 28 business days. It is recommended to begin paperwork at least 6 to 8 weeks before your planned surgery date at Mater Private Hospital.iting’s practice provides the required medical reports and specialist documentation to assist with your application.
Dr Whiting’s surgical and administrative team will provide a written Financial Informed Consent estimate outlining due dates. Generally, hospital excesses and specialist gaps are required prior to admission, while third-party medical finance and early release of superannuation options can be arranged in advance to manage cash flow.
The ATO requires two separate medical reports certifying that the treatment is necessary to treat a chronic or acute condition/pain: one completed by your General Practitioner and one completed by Dr Whiting as your specialist surgeon, along with itemised fee quotes for the surgery and hospital stay.
